Curriculum
Our theme based, age appropriate curriculum in combination with our uniquely designed learning centers enable your child to master “Core Components” needed for early development.

Our curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development,
Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of the group.
Emotional: To help children experience pride and self- confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life.
Cognitive: To help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.
Physical: To help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.
We allow children to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We help encourage good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves. The activities planned; the organization of the environment; and the interactions with the children; are all designed to give your child a solid foundation allowing them to be successful learners throughtout life.

For the youngest children (infants and one-year-olds), the Active Learning Series, a well-known curriculum, has proven to be a successful learning tool. All activities are age appropriate and are carefully chosen to meet the needs of each child. Through planned experiences, your baby will gain vital skills through activities that focus on Listening and Talking, Physical Development, Creativity, and The World Around Them. In order for parents to extend learning in the home, daily activities are posted in the classroom for review. Sign language is introduced to help children communicate their needs as they work toward developing their verbal skills. Signing with your baby can be introduced at 2 to 4 months, but it is recommended to start from 6-7 months. At age 6-7 months infants can play social games and imitate gestures and actions performed by adults. You can use sign with your baby up to 3 years old. Signing has to be implemented on a daily basis. Infants and Toddlers learn through repetition. In order for signing with your baby to be a success it should be reinforced daily. Children who are ages 6 months-2 years should begin to see results in 1-2 months. Children who are 22 months – 3 years should begin to see results in 4 weeks. Research indicated that signing babies scored higher in intelligence test, understood more words, had larger vocabularies, and engaged is sophisticated play. Our goal is to provide a stimulating and enriching environment for infants. Our indoor learning environment is equipped with soft, cozy areas that allow children ample space and opportunity to strengthen the muscles essential to their physical development. Our outdoor environment is equipped with age-appropriate play spaces, which allow for fresh air and outdoor activities and exploration.Daily activities develop both physical and mental abilities. Our infant caregivers make certain parents are informed about the high quality care their baby receives. Daily Reports and Weekly Lesson Plans will keep you abreast and involved with your child’s activities and advancements.

For our preschoolers, ages 2 - 4, A combination of two curriculums is used. The first curriculum is produced by Kids ‘R’ Kids International and is predicated on the standards of the National Association of the Educators of Young Children (NAEYC) and embraces the concepts of Jean Piaget by implementing an educational environment that provides weekly themes, learning centers, and play based developmentally appropriate activities that are engaging and enriching. Children learn best through play and doing. The Kids R Kids curriculum is based on this philosophy and uses the environment (the classrooms, the outdoors, the equipment, the people) as the foundation for children’s learning. Each unit is filled with activities designed to meet the needs of all types of learners. Daily group times and enrichments are designed to expand a child’s vocabulary and knowledge of the world around them. Various activities at each learning station support the theme based lesson. Kids ‘R’ Kids also enriches its curriculum through music, which is professionally written and recorded to reinforce concepts.

The second is the Language Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP), developed by Head Start and taught through Southern Methodist University. The core of this program is to read aloud from books and include language in a variety of activities every day. Besides reading to children, components of LEAP include games and pictures for building vocabulary and expressive language skills, phonological awareness, knowledge of the letters of the alphabet, concept development and fine motor and pre-writing skills. Teachers are encouraged to talk to the children as often as possible during the day, modeling correct grammar and a rich vocabulary. Teachers also incorporate counting and word games, nursery rhymes, fairy tales, and creative play in learning centers throughout the day. Engaging children in activities with environmental print, literature, writing, and language experience charts encourages print awareness.

The teacher’s goal is to prepare and educate the children to hold the skills that are necessary to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond. They are able to help the children through the use of deliberate lesson planning and well thought out learning objectives that meet the standards set out by the state in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) guide. This guide is the same that is used in all public school pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. Kids R Kids wants children to be successful learners now and in the future.

Children attending kindergarten through fifth grade benefit from a variety of curriculum materials written especially for after school hours, holiday breaks and summer camp. Each month, idea calendars, with relevant daily activities, are provided. They are designed to be open-ended to inspire children to use their creativity while exploring the topic. During school breaks, weeklong, theme-based units are supplied. These include group time topics, art activities, and suggestions to enrich classroom. Each summer, campers participate in a ten-week super summer adventure. Children involved in the Kids ‘R’ Kids Summer Program have the opportunity to take a virtual vacation to many fascinating places while learning fun facts and interesting information about our country and the world.

By providing an educational environment, Kids ‘R’ Kids is able to implement learning objectives supported by national teacher organizations. By creating a warm, loving atmosphere, Kids ‘R’ Kids is able to support learning in a safe setting, inspiring children to become life-long learners.
